I’m Kyle Johnson, and this site is here to document some of the interesting projects on which I’m working and to share thoughts about technology in higher education.
I am currently the Dean for Information Technology & Services and Director of Emerging Learning Technology for a private college where I focus on helping the institution make the best use of technology to serve their students. I believe technology can be the catalyst that amplifies the effect of good faculty using sound pedagogy to reach students, and I am passionate about leading in that process.
I have nearly 20 years of experience in higher education. As Associate Provost for Information and Learning Resources at the State University of New York Institute of Technology, I provided vision, strategic and operational planning, and day to day oversight for information technology and library services. Previous to that I served as Chief Technology Officer at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC and as Director of Student Affairs Information Technology Services at Duke University in Durham, NC.
I am certified by SCUBA Skills International (SSI) as a Master Diver with over 300 dives during last 16 years at sites in Aruba, Belize, Chuuk, Costa Rica, Grand Cayman, Honduras, Mexico, Palau, Puerto Rico, and the US.
